Mao Zedong, China’s Communist Legend and his mausoleum

Mao is a great leader, the founding father of China. Mao Zedong is also a controversial figure who brought China into a communist country and became an important figure in China’s milestone. Mao Zedong died in 1976, 27 years after he proclaimed the People’s Republic of China on October 1, 1949. Not just the name of Mao Zedong is remembered, but also his body. Mao’s body was still intact and anyone can see it.
Mao Zedong’s body was preserved and stored in a glass coffin in a mausoleum of Mao Zedong in the south of Tiananmen Square, exactly behind the People’s Heroes Monument. Tourist who visited Tiananmen Square would easily see the building of the mausoleum which was brownish. Inside the building, tourist can find a glass coffin containing Mao’s body, shrouded with a China’s red flag which covered half of coffin. Tourists can see clearly Mao Zedong’s face from the side.
